Did you know that today is National Emergency Nurses Day? It is also Tuxedo Day, Double 10th Day (10/10/07) and Helen Hayes’ birthday! She was a spectacular classic film actress from way back.
There are so many reasons to make each day a celebration. Someone, somewhere is having a birthday, baby shower, wedding or celebrating a major achievement in their life like graduation or even retirement! It doesn’t matter if we don’t know them, we can still be happy for them. More happy, content people makes the world a more, happy content place!
After watching “some” of the political debates on T.V. last night, I thought I needed to focus something more uplifting. Political debates always seem to focus on the negatives and forget about the many positives we all take for granted. But then there is the term “political party” – what kind of party favor could they use?
So, Happy Tuxedo Day! Does anyone have a spare that I could wear to work today?

These are two good reasons to celebrate! The Cleveland Indians continue to do awesome and finally, after record breaking hot weather for September and October, cool weather is on the horizon!!
As a displaced Clevelander, it is exciting to see our old hometown team doing so well in the American League playoffs. My husband is certainly excited to see that, per my usual style, I have become a late blooming baseball fan. Of course it helps that the Indians are doing well! Maybe we should have a house party, combining the best of the season: October baseball season and Halloween! What would party favors look like for that kind of event?
With the weatherman calling for much cooler weather, it is easier to think ahead to upcoming holidays. Of course, I don’t want to think ahead so much that I miss out enjoying the present fall weather and all the changes going on around. October is the birth month of four very special little boys and I want to wish Isaac, Nathan, Jack and Darnell III Happy Birthday!! Do you guys need any personalized party favors? Nana/Aunt Betty will be happy to provide them for you!!
And here’s a little interesting tidbit: Happy Leif Erikson Day! Leif and his Vikings were the first Europeans to set foot in America 500 years before Christopher Columbus.

Happy Monday morning! That’s not something most of us express, is it? The weekend is over and it is time to start all over again. How am I supposed to blog about parties and party favors when my “day job” looms in front of me?
OK, I’m not really looking for an answer to that one
. It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day (albeit hot) and lots of opportunities will present themselves for me to celebrate life. Hey, I still have a job (some don’t). I have people to love in my life. My grandson is having his 6th birthday this week and I’m looking forward to his birthday party. Is it too late to order him some of my extra-special personalized party favors?
The “to do” list is long for this week but that’s a good thing, right? Still excited about my new website and the possibilities with it so, for now, it’s off to work and then back home to seek out more unique party favors for the site!
Happy Monday!!

As the saying goes, “there must be something in the water”! I have several friends who are expecting more grandchildren and that’s reason to celebrate! Three little baby girls are on the way and one little baby boy (at least that’s what the ultrasounds are showing).
Two are first-timers and one is a repeat but hopefully there will be some baby showers to attend! It would be awesome if my party favors were used but, if not, it is still a great opportunity to shower the mom-to-be with lots of love and attention.
It truly seems like just yesterday when my kids were babies-on-the-way. Time does fly. Ah.. but I do have my grandkids now. Of course, I’m a very young grandma – just like my friends!

As a Cleveland Indians fan–and I mean LONG TERM Cleveland Indian fan–I must take this time to congratulate them for a fantastic ball game tonight. WOW, what a ball game! I can’t even imagine the party atmosphere in Cleveland tonight.

Unbelievable pitching by both sides finally gave way, briefly, to a favor from Canada!! Not really, but almost. Little winged creatures that always infest the North Coast for about 36 hours this time of year, called “Canadian Soldiers”, descended like a plague of locusts upon Jacobs Field at precisely the right time to destroy a near perfectly pitched game by the Yankees.
Not that the Indians didn’t have their chances early on (they should have won easily in nine innings). Leaving 11 runners on base is a cardinal sin that is rarely forgivable, especially when playing the Yankees! But after 11 long innings the game winner finally came when a real party favor was served up to Travis Hafner to drive in the winning run.
Well, if there were ever a time to party in Cleveland, tonight is truly one of them! Great game Tribe! Keep on rolling!

Now that sounds like a political term, doesn’t it? With all the election drama in the news lately, words like “Party” and “Favor” sound more like politics than entertaining.
Ah, but that isn’t what I’m talking about today. As I continue to search for fun and unique party favor ideas for my new site, I was hoping to enlist some input from my readers. Does anyone have a unique request for a baby shower or bridal shower favor that you just haven’t seen on the web yet? There are so many great suppliers out there and I enjoy seeking out just what my customers need.
I’m also finding that there are lots of requests for fun ideas for bat mitzvah and sweet 16 party favors. I would appreciate suggestions from readers – let me know what is needed and I will do the “leg work” for you! I’ll keep you posted on what is new in the party favor market! Thanks!!

I was thinking about how much fun it is to gather with friends and family just for the fun of it! Wouldn’t it be a great idea to plan a very casual Halloween get-together? It wouldn’t have to be on trick-or-treat night so that no one misses out on handing out treats at their own home. But maybe even the Saturday night before. Send out a simple invitation (there are great resources on-line or do your own).
An idea that would greatly cut down on your stress level would assign/suggest each guest a food group to bring along (main, side, dessert, beverage) with the stipulation that it has to be Halloween themed. You, as the host/hostess, can be responsible for doing a little spooky decorating and renting an old black and white horror flick.
After enjoying some good food and a classic movie, pass out some party favors like personalized candy tins with your names and Happy Halloween printed right on them. These are so cute and will remind your guests of the “spooktacular” evening. If you are going to have a lot of gals at the party, consider some purse-sized lip balms that can have Halloween labels with your name put on them. It’s easy to order, saves time and stress, and lets your guests know you appreciate them.

So, you’ve been planning for a party. Maybe it is a baby shower, bridal shower, birthday or another special occasion. A lot of time and effort has been put into deciding on invitations, menu, and decorating. And now, before it is too late, take a little time to consider party favors.
I’ve been to a number of parties where last minute party favor choices ended up being less than suitable. Cheaply made, breakable trinkets can cause more tears at a children’s party than you can imagine. Be sure to choose something that is usable and sturdy. Young ones can always use more crayons or jump ropes. Older kids will get a kick out of personalized candy tins with the birthday boy or girl’s face right on the container.
A ladies luncheon style bridal or baby shower is a great opportunity to carry on the theme into elegant, unique party favors. The perfect finishing touch for a garden-themed party would be these beautiful plantable paper favors that we’ve just been getting onto our website.
I’ve been working on finding a way to incorporate the guys into the whole party favor idea. Stay tuned to see what I find!

I spent a long day working on the on-going process of loading up catalog images for our new party favor site! There are so many great choices out there for great ideas to compliment any party you might consider having. Deciding which ones to feature on PartyFavorDepot.com has been more difficult than I would have expected.
I really like the selections we have chosen so far for our site! One feature that makes them stand out is that they can be personalized. Personalized party favors insures that your choice will be unique to the event you are planning. Plus the designs can be reconfigured to fit different products. A design found on a candy tin can be adjusted to fit on a lip balm package; a loose tea party favor design can be adjusted to fit on a travel-sized candle; and on and on – the options are limitless!
One of the newest product lines that we are adding are plantable party favors. Designs are available for baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, birthdays , bar and bat mitzvahs, and many other special events. These are constructed from hand made paper with tiny wildflower seeds embedded right into the paper! They are beautiful, unique party favors and also earth-friendly!
I’m getting a great education in e-commerce! My mantra is becoming “this is great brain exercise”!! I’m looking forward to seeing my business and myself grow.

Ok, so what would quilting and showers (not the wet kind but the baby kind) have to do with each other? Well, maybe not a lot but they could make great co-ideas (is that a word?) for a unique shower theme!
This would take a little forethought and effort but I think it would be very special for the shower-girl. Quilting has become a very popular and fashionable hobby for the younger crowd and there are so many awesome fabric choices available now. Within the invitation, ask each invitee to bring a 6×6 inch square of fabric to the shower. You can be as specific as you would like with their fabric choices (all cottons versus silks, fleece, etc). Or be adventurous and see what shows up!
Recruit a seamstress or hobby sewer from the group (it may even be yourself). After the shower, the squares can be trimmed, pieced into a simple block quilt top and added to a colorful backing material. It can be machine quilted or hand tied to complete it. The baby quilt will be a very unique, memorable gift for the new baby.
As your guests are leaving the shower, it is always thoughtful to have a little party favor to say “thank you for coming”. Plantable favors are a simple idea and will sure to please the crafty crowd that attends your quilting shower!
